Introduction - Joinville 101

The place I am heading to is called Joinville, in Santa Catarina state. Which is located at the Southern of Brazil. Population wise they have approximate 2.6 million, among them 65% are Catholics & 29% are Protestants.

Languages here spoken are Portuguese - the official language of Brazil, Spanish and German as Joinville is also famous for its strong German- influenced culture.

The city has been identified as one of the growth cities in Brazil. Economy are mainly contributed by industrial activities and commerce. Some interesting facts, General Motors has constructed a new plant here focusing on systems and technologies. And BMW has also invested in building a new factory here next to Joinville.

Climate on an average in October would be :-
Average Low 14 °C (57°F)
Average High 24
°C (75°F)

Based on couple of meetings and introductions by some friendly, helpful locals and IBMers.
These are also some overviews of  what is famous in and around Joinville :-
Beaches -  Santa Catarina is famous for it's coastline and due to difficulty in access natural   beauty  are being kept. (Florianopolis which is also the state's capital has 42 beaches which is approximately 2hrs away from Joinville)

Oktoberfest - Blumenau city has the biggest German festival in South America and considered one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebration outside Munich. (117km, 1h34min from Joinville)
